Imrie House Receives Prestigious National Architecture Award

Jun. 20, 2025

The Royal Architectural Institute of Canada (RAIC) has awarded the 2025 Prix du XXe Siècle to Imrie House - also known as Six Acres - honouring its lasting contribution to Canadian architecture.

Designed in 1957 by architects Jean Wallbridge and Mary Imrie, the home is celebrated for its modernist design, strong connection to the natural landscape, and historical significance as the residence and studio of one of Canada’s first woman-led architectural firms. The award recognizes not only the house’s original vision, but also its ongoing preservation and use - a rare example of mid-century architecture that continues to serve the public today.

The Land Stewardship Centre has been proud to call Imrie House home for over two decades. As long-time tenants and stewards of the property, we’re honoured to see this iconic space recognized for its cultural and architectural legacy.
