We're Hiring! Program Assistant - Intern

Position Description

Reporting to the Executive Director, and working closely with Land Stewardship Centre (LSC) staff, the Program Assistant – Intern (12 month term position with the possibility of extension) will support several of LSC’s community outreach and engagement initiatives. the Program Assistant – Intern will work to increase the organization’s presence in the community and will build relationships with individuals, stewardship groups and other organizations in support of LSC’s work. The Program Assistant – Intern will be responsible for supporting projects that directly contribute to increasing community awareness of and support for the organization and its programs and services.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Assist with the design and delivery of community outreach workshops and webinars in support of LSC programs.
  • Assist with grant applications, reporting and project evaluations.
  • Assist with special events, trade shows and other projects.
    Liaise with community stewardship groups, environmental organizations and program partners in support of LSC and its programs.
  • Develop and deliver presentations as required.
  • Perform minor administrative tasks.
  • Travel within the province of Alberta.


  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals and/or groups.
  • Excellent organizational, written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficient with social media platforms and utilizing analytic tracking tools.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Detail oriented and committed to meeting objectives.
  • Skilled in managing multiple priorities, projects and deadlines.
  • Computer proficiency and strong research skills.
  • An understanding of ArcGIS is an asset.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends.
  • Class 5 license (GDL is acceptable) and clean driver’s abstract.
  • Reliable transportation and insurance coverage is an asset.
  • Understanding and/or knowledge of the environment, conservation, stewardship sectors is a definite asset.

The position is based in Edmonton, and is full-time (35 hours per week) for a twelve-month period from October 1, 2018 to September 30, 2019. People who wish to apply should have recently completed their post-secondary studies and are eligible for the Eco Canada Wage Subsidy Program. We welcome applications from students with concentrations in all major areas. Some in-province travel may be required. Previous experience is preferred.
