Go for Green - Active Living and Environment Program

Go for Green is an initiative launched by Health Canada in partnership with Environment Canada, every provincial-territorial governments, national voluntary organizations, community groups, and the private sector. Through funding of various program and project initiatives developed by nonprofit organizations, as well as educational outreach materials and promotions, the program helps individual Canadians to participate in outdoor physical activities, at the same time encouraging them to become good environmental citizens. The website provides an online series of 10 factsheets on ecological gardening under its “Safety/Naturalization” information feature. Factsheets include: The Health and Environmental Costs of Garden Chemicals, Internet Resources for Organic Gardening, Gardening with Native Plants and more. The factsheets series and other Go for Green reports and publications dealing with active living, urban trail systems and naturalized urban parks can also be ordered online.
