Elk Island National Park Plans for the Future - Stage Two Date Changes

Canada’s National Parks, National Historic Sites, and National Marine Conservation Areas belong to all Canadians. In the coming months, Elk Island National Park will be updating its management plan, the foundation of a vision, key strategies, measurable objectives and main actions for the next five to ten years. This plan will help to establish a clear identity for the park and will help to guide park conservation work, facilitation of visitor experience opportunities, partnering, public education outreach, and more.
As part of this process, they will be holding four open houses for the general public. They encourage you or a member of your organization to share your time by attending:
Stage One – Developing plan elements

Stage Two – Review of the draft management plan
A second stage of open houses had been scheduled for October 20 in Lamont and October 21 in Edmonton as part of the next public review of the draft plan. Please note, these open houses have been rescheduled as follows:

Alberta Stewardship Network Grant Coordinator
The Land Stewardship Centre of Canada (LSCC) has a challenging and rewarding opportunity for a detail oriented and well-organized individual as the organization’s Alberta Stewardship Network Grant Coordinator.
LSCC is an independent, not-for-profit organization that brings people and organizations together to work on common priorities for achieving sustainability on the landscape. LSCC facilitates stewardship by improving understanding of healthy ecosystems, supporting community stewardship initiatives and strengthening policies that affect resource and land use.
Reporting to LSCC‘s Executive Director, the Grant Coordinator looks after all aspects of the Alberta Stewardship Network (ASN) annual Watershed Stewardship Granting Program. The Grant Coordinator works closely with the ASN Program Coordinator and the ASN Grant Application Review Committee and liaises regularly with other members of the Alberta Stewardship Network.
The Alberta Stewardship Network Grant Coordinator will be responsible for:
- Administration of the annual Watershed Stewardship Grant Program;
- Collection and review of interim and final reports from all grant recipients;
- Interim report preparation and presentation (as required);
- Regular communication with all grant recipients;
- Liaising with the Grant Application Review Committee;
- Preparation and submission of final reports and presentations to program funders;
- Attendance at various meetings, conferences and workshops as required.
LSCC is looking for a motivated, professional individual with the following traits:
- Strong organizational and efficiency skills;
- Familiarity with Government of Alberta – Water for Life;
- Strong verbal and written communication skills;
- Microsoft Office products and computer skills;
- Familiarity with basic finance and administration;
- Previous experience working with Watershed Stewardship Groups or Watershed Protection and Advisory Councils would be an asset.
This is a part-time (22.5 hours per week based on a 7.5 hour work day), term position which commences on November 15, 2010 and runs to June 30, 2014. The position pays $25/hour. LSCC also supports and encourages flexible schedule and time management in all its positions. Previous experience is preferred.
